It all begins with an idea and the idea we had. It was just about making it happen. Tendermesh was born from craving to start at an art collective based on building community and bringing the larger berlin art scene into one multidisciplinary pop up space. This collective came from asking “what do artists need the most?” The answer to this was “A SPACE!!!” Artists need a platform to showcase their work. Often times, the art scene can be quite exclusive, isolating, and heirarichal, often times excluding many voices in the process. Our job, as Tendermesh, is to create a space where artists of all disciplines and backgrounds can feel not just included, but also celebrated. Where we can gather as artists and as a larger community, and come together around the power of art. My background in art therapy, also has a massive impact on this collective. How do we make artists feel like their process is also as important as the final product? We allow them the space to share and connect with one another and tell their story.
